Each of us has experienced difficult moments in life when it seems to us that we are in a hopeless situation and we will not be able to cope with our problems. If you are at this stage of your life and you feel that you need help I'm glad that you have found this site.
It is normal to experience mood fluctuations, but depression is a condition with symptoms which definitely hinder our everyday functioning. When we are depressed we feel particularly unhappy, discouraged, lonely and very critical about ourselves. Feelings of sadness, emptiness, inability to experience pleasure even from things which once were a source of joy, a sense of low self-esteem, guilt or hopelessness, are just some of the symptoms of depression. When additional symptoms appear, such as irritability, lack of motivation, sleep and concentration disturbances, fatigue, and suicidal thoughts, we feel overwhelmed and our ability to function decreases significantly.
Most of us have also experienced feelings of anxiety associated with giving a speech in a public place in front of large audience, or anxiety connected with approach to a difficult exam. Rapid heartbeat or a shaking stomach in such situations are normal reactions. However, when worries and anxiety seem to deter you from the lifestyle which you used to lead, or would like to lead, you may suffer from anxiety.
Fortunately, existing methods in therapy may help you to regain control of your life.
